Parents, we must be sober (clearheaded, showing self-restraint) and alert (attentive, on one's guard). You and your child have the same adversary -- the devil. He's prowling even more today than when you were a child.
Don't be so quick to hand over a cell phone or flip on the TV and then leave the room. Sit down and watch what your child watches or the games they play during screen time. Things will not always be overt; look at the subtleties.
š° What is the overall theme?
āļø What are the secondary plots?
š§š¦ Who are the characters?
šØāš©āš§āš¦ How do the characters relate to their parents or others?
šŖ Are there any occultic symbols or use of magic (no matter how fun and harmless it may look)?
Don't be afraid to take phones, cancel subscriptions, turn off cartoons, or tell relatives not to purchase gifts of certain characters.
As parents, we can't always say we didn't know. There is an adversary restlessly seeking someone to devour, and he has our children in his gaze.
"Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8)
