One of the areas Satan tries to attack Christians and especially children is identity. If he can get you to doubt who you are, he can get you to hand over your authority, the power delegated to us by God.
Adam was created in the image of God. He followed Eve in tasting the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil because Satan said their eyes would be opened and they would be like God (Genesis 3:5). Adam willingly gave up the keys to the kingdom because he didn't know and believe his own identity.
Jesus is called the last Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45). Satan tried his old tactic to get Jesus to doubt His identity in the wilderness. Satan told Jesus if He worshiped and served him that he would give Jesus the kingdoms of the world and their glory (Matthew 4:8-9). Jesus knew His identity. He already had authority and dominion. And He knew all honor and glory belongs to God (1 Timothy 1:17). Jesus' purpose is to reconcile man to God the Father and return authority and dominion to man.
If you are a believer in Christ, He has given you the keys to the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 16:14-19). You have nothing to fear because Jesus holds the keys to both death and Hades (Revelation 1:17-18).
It is important that we teach our child(ren) their identity in Christ so they won't doubt who they are, willingly opening the door and handing over their keys of authority and dominion.
